Hillsborough County, Florida Students Paying It Forward
We ask ourselves what someone can do to make a positive change in our communities. Well, several West Shore students did just that…
Renzulli Learning, in partnership with Double Good, donated over 200 bags of popcorn to the teachers and staff at West Shore Elementary from Hillsborough County schools in Tampa, Florida. They enjoyed this delicious popcorn so much, and wanted to share it with the other essential workers.
Mrs. Brown (West Shore’s gifted teacher), and her students, wanted to pay it forward to local firefighters, paramedics, and police officers. These West Shore Wildcats had the chance to deliver the bags to three fire stations, and a police station, along with handmade cards thanking them for their service and dedication. These acts of kindness, and paying it forward, made such an impact on the students, firefighters, paramedics, and police officers! The students felt like they were making a difference in the lives of these essential workers. They want them to know how much they appreciate them for all that they do, every day, but especially during the last two years. The looks on the faces of all who participated says it all…BRAVO, young scholars!
“The staff here enjoyed all of the popcorn, and it gave us the opportunity to pay it forward to other essential workers in our community. I am trying to inspire my students to always make the most of each situation, and promote the idea that even little things can help make the world a better place. This fit in perfectly. It truly was a positive experience for all involved.”
- Sandra Brown (Gifted teacher at West Shore Elementary in the School District of Hillsborough County, Florida)
