Before Week 1: Introduce Your Students

Three short resources to set context and excitement before students take the Profiler in Week 1.

Student introduction resources

Pair the printable lesson with the two short videos for a complete first-day introduction. Most teachers run all three in a single 30–40 minute session.

Your first 12 weeks

Each cycle builds on the last. Adapt the activities to your grade level and content area.

The Renzulli Profiler

  • Take the Profiler assessment of your interests, learning styles, and expression styles
  • Read your results
Pre-K, K, and Grade 1: students are auto-bypassed past the Profiler. Begin those grades directly in My Enrichment Activities.

Journal of Profiler Results

  • Click the Journal icon at the top of your window
  • Create a Journal entry on how you feel about your Profile results — do you agree or disagree? Was anything surprising? Use details to support your thoughts
  • Click Save
  • Your teacher will be able to read and respond to your Journal

Explore My Enrichment Activities

  • Explore the My Enrichment Activities section
  • Select a category and one resource to complete a Self-Assessment
  • Add resources you really like to your Favorites
  • Rate a resource so other students can find it easily

Journal Prompts for Enrichment Activities

Examples: Virtual Field Trips, Mathematics, Science, History, Social Studies.

  • Go to My Enrichment Activities
  • Choose an icon of your choice in Week 5; choose a different one in Week 6
  • Optionally narrow down to one Interest Area using the drop-down menu
  • View at least three different activities each week
  • Click the Journal icon and write: Which activities would you like to explore more extensively? Explain why with at least 3 reasons and supporting details.

Differentiation Search Engine

  • Choose the Search option
  • Type in a keyword to search the enrichment activities
  • Click Advanced Search to narrow results — your results will be aligned to your Profile

E-books and Journaling

  • Go to your Differentiation Search Engine
  • Type the e-book or audiobook title into the search
  • Choose your book
  • Journal entry: discuss the book — would you recommend it to a classmate? Why?

Introduce Project-Based Learning

This is just an introduction to Renzulli PBL. Projects are meant to be long term.

  • Go to My Projects
  • Watch the Student Tutorial video
  • Choose Create Your Own or one of the Super Starter projects — your project should focus on a subject you're passionate about
  • Once you add a project, Renzulli Learning organizes the steps in an orderly format for you to complete
  • When your product is complete, record a presentation and add it to the Virtual Showcase

Showcase Student Work

The Project Showcase module lets you upload videos, images, or project documents to highlight student work. Customize your showcases and share any form of student work.

  • On the right side of your teacher dashboard, click Manage Project Showcases under the Project Showcase header
  • Click Add New Tab
  • Select the showcase type: School, Group, or Student
