Sharing Best Practices
Ready, Set, Renzulli! This month’s Best Practice comes from Dr. Julie Ledford, Gifted & Talented Teacher, from Fort Worth, Texas. In today’s fast-paced world, students need technology skills to keep up with new developments and compete in the workplace. As an educator, it is crucial to integrate these experiences and embed technological literacy within lessons. Teachers can use online learning systems to add this element easily to their classroom. Even with primary grades, simple lesson templates can be adapted for young participants and modified to serve their needs. Keep reading to find out how!

SEM School in Italy
Renzulli Learning va in Italia!“Talent is lost if it is not detected early,” explains Lara Milan, from Vicenza, a researcher at the University of Pavia, the only Italian university to have established the ‘LabTalento’ for the study of students with high potential. Lara co-authored a volume on enrichment with Joseph Renzulli and has created a course to be introduced at Maffei Middle School, where, for the last two years, she has been in charge of the professional training of the teachers who will undertake the Schoolwide Enrichment Model path. “In Italy we support children with learning difficulties (dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism, Asperger’s) but we forget that there is a world of excellence in which not enough is invested.
“Yet, if more resources were allocated to promote talent development, the impact on our society in terms of economics would be enormous,” adds Milan. “The SEM class will not be composed only of pupils with high potential. Renzulli has opened schools of this type also in the Bronx to show that there is talent even in the most difficult children. It is the responsibility of teachers to detect it and make it emerge.”
Partnerships
University Partnership ProgramRenzulli Learning has worked with universities around the globe to bring the methodologies of Joe Renzulli and the power of Renzulli Learning into the hands of their educational students. We are delighted to partner with accredited schools of education to provide free access to our system and online training for teacher certification candidates.
Participating institutions are provided with Teacher licenses for each student teacher for the duration of their student teaching experience, along with licenses for each student they instruct. We will provide online demonstrations and training in Renzulli teaching methods and the Renzulli Learning System upon request.
Renzulli Learning has recently partnered with major universities such as the University of Connecticut, the University of Alabama Gifted Program, the University of Pavia in Italy, and the University of Quebec at Montreal.

Social and Emotional Needs
Strategies to Embed Social-Emotional Learning in SchoolsEmployers are looking for different skills than they did even 10 years ago… This information creates a certain sense of urgency in schools that have not yet found an effective way to assess these kinds of skills and dispositions. Teachers need to mindfully integrate these skills and dispositions into their curriculum, instruction, and assessments.
