About Renzulli Learning

Quick answer Renzulli Learning is the digital realization of the Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM) — the most widely adopted enrichment framework in the world. The platform assesses each student’s strengths through the Renzulli Profiler, then personalizes learning with 40,000+ enrichment activities, project-based learning, four proprietary assessments, the Personal Success Plan, and the English Language Learning Accelerator (ELLA) for ELL and dual language programs. The result: engaged students who build the durable skills that matter most — in an AI-accelerated world where critical thinking, creativity, and self-direction are the edge.

Our story begins a few decades ago with Dr. Joseph Renzulli and Dr. Sally Reis, education researchers who pioneered influential new models to describe student learning at the University of Connecticut’s Neag School of Education. Their research centered on how personalization and differentiation — constructed around a student’s interests, learning styles, and expression styles — inspire learning.

The Renzulli Learning platform is the culmination of these years of research. We believe that an engaged student is more likely to invest in learning, and that building a curriculum around student strengths empowers teachers to make a difference in the lives of their students. Renzulli Learning allows students to apply, deepen, and extend their learning so that, in the words of Joe Renzulli, there is “no child left bored.”

Dr. Joseph S. Renzulli tells the story of how a conversation on a ski lift led to the creation of Renzulli Learning.

Six Integrated Components — One Personalized Learning System

Every component of Renzulli Learning connects to the student’s Profiler data, creating a seamless, personalized experience from assessment to enrichment to project work to goal-setting:

Step 1

Renzulli Profiler

A student’s first experience with Renzulli Learning. A detailed online questionnaire generates a personal profile of each student’s top interests, learning styles, and expression styles — making it easier for teachers to know their students and effectively differentiate instruction. Available in 20+ languages.

Step 2

Enrichment Activities

Once a profile is generated, students and teachers explore 40,000+ curated, vetted, standards-aligned activities matched to the student’s unique profile. Teachers can also search by subject area, standards, or upload their own resources.

Step 3

Project-Based Learning

Student-driven or teacher-assigned projects for individuals or groups. The PBL module includes the Wizard Project Maker, Super Starter Projects, and the Project Showcase where students publish finished work for real audiences.

Step 4

Assessments

Four proprietary assessments that measure and develop the skills that matter: the Executive Function Assessment, Leadership Assessment, and Cebeci Test of Creativity (CTC) — plus the Profiler itself.

Step 5

Personal Success Plan

The action layer that turns assessment data into goals and projects. Students Think, Dream, Plan, and Succeed — building a living portfolio of durable skills evidence for conferences, ECAP/ILP, and college applications.

Step 6

ELLA — English Language Learning Accelerator

The module purpose-built for ELL, dual language, and emergent bilingual programs. Students take the Profiler in their home language (20+ languages), receive personalized bilingual enrichment in Spanish and English, and learn English faster through six research-backed best practices — including Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) and collaborative grouping. Schools and international partners worldwide use ELLA to improve English language instruction.

Not Just Enrichment — A Complete Assess, Develop, and Document System

Starts with the student, not the content: The Profiler identifies each student’s strengths first. Everything else — activities, projects, goals — flows from that profile. This is personalization at scale.
Assesses the skills that matter: Four proprietary assessments (Profiler, EF, Leadership, Creativity) measure and develop the durable skills that Portrait of a Graduate frameworks and employers demand — not just academic content.
Complete Enrichment Triad pipeline: Students explore (Type I), develop skills (Type II), and create original products as first-hand inquirers (Type III) — all in one integrated system. No other platform connects exploration, skill development, and creative productivity.
40+ years of research: Built on the Schoolwide Enrichment Model by Dr. Joseph Renzulli and Dr. Sally Reis at the University of Connecticut — the most widely adopted enrichment framework in the world, implemented in thousands of schools across all 50 states and internationally.
20+ languages + ELLA for ELL and dual language: The Renzulli Profiler is available in more than 20 languages. The English Language Learning Accelerator (ELLA) turns the platform into a complete ELL and dual language solution — used by schools and international partners worldwide.
Safe, vetted content: All 40,000+ activities are screened by education specialists for safety, age-appropriateness, and educational quality. 13,000+ activities are aligned to Common Core and state standards.

Renzulli Learning: Common Questions

Renzulli Learning is a patented, research-driven K-12 platform that personalizes learning around each student’s interests, learning styles, and expression styles. It includes the Renzulli Profiler, Executive Function Assessment, Leadership Assessment, Cebeci Test of Creativity (CTC), 40,000+ enrichment activities, Project-Based Learning (PBL) with a Project Showcase, the Personal Success Plan (PSP), and the English Language Learning Accelerator (ELLA) for ELL and dual language programs — all grounded in Dr. Joseph Renzulli and Dr. Sally Reis’s Schoolwide Enrichment Model research at the University of Connecticut.
Dr. Joseph S. Renzulli and Dr. Sally M. Reis, education researchers at the University of Connecticut’s Neag School of Education. Their research centered on how personalization and differentiation — constructed around a student’s interests, learning styles, and expression styles — inspire learning. The platform is the digital realization of their Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM), which has been adopted in thousands of schools worldwide.
Students complete the Renzulli Profiler, which identifies their interests, learning styles, and expression styles. The platform then matches them to 40,000+ curated enrichment activities based on their unique profile. Teachers can assign activities, organize flexible groups, run assessments (Executive Function, Leadership, Creativity), facilitate Project-Based Learning, and guide students through the Personal Success Plan — all powered by profile data.
Four proprietary assessments: (1) Renzulli Profiler — interests, learning styles, and expression styles; (2) Executive Function Assessment — planning, organization, attention, flexibility, self-regulation, working memory, and task initiation; (3) Leadership Assessment — collaboration, communication, and leadership behaviors; (4) Cebeci Test of Creativity (CTC) — divergent thinking, originality, and creative potential (US Patent 12,087,176).
Renzulli Learning serves all students in grades Pre-K through 12. The Profiler, enrichment activities, PBL templates, and assessments are age-adapted for every grade level.
Renzulli Learning operationalizes Portrait of a Graduate frameworks by assessing and building the durable skills those frameworks demand: critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, self-direction, adaptability, and leadership. The platform’s assessments measure these skills, the enrichment activities develop them, the PBL module practices them through authentic projects, and the Personal Success Plan documents them in student portfolios.
